GAVA began as a coalition-based initiative and is currently seeking 501(c)3 status.  To guide the coalition's decision-making and maintain accountability to the communities we serve, the GAVA coalition created an Advisory Council in 2015, comprised of director-level representatives from our partner organizations and leaders from the resident teams.

In order to maintain GAVA’s roots in the interests of the community we serve, the Council is always comprised of a simple majority of residents and community stakeholders. Votes are taken quarterly to endorse various decisions that affect the entire network.
